Property Crimes

Property crimes involve the taking of money or property without involving force or the threat of force against a victim. These data give the number of UCR Part I non-violent crimes reported to the FBI, including burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Although not all crimes are reported to the police department, reported property crimes are a major quality of life concern and often an indicator of other public safety issues.

Source: City of New Haven. These data are audited. Important Note: New Haven monthly data for January through December 2009 are not yet adjusted for late reports and therefore are not directly comparable on a month-to-month basis to previous years (there were 7,043 total property crimes in 2009, adjusted for late reports, but the individual monthly figures shown here are not yet adjusted and therefore add up to only 6,711). Upgraded systems for data reporting, expected to be ready in 2010, will allow DataHaven users to conduct more detailed analyses.
