In August 2014, the shooting of African-American teenager Michael Brown in the black-majority city of Ferguson, Missouri by a white police officer on duty quickly captured the entire country’s attention. Residents, long aware of the existing tensions between the community and a police force that no longer represents their racial and ethnic makeup, protested the excessive use of force by police and demanded greater accountability from police departments.

This is a raw dataset with community profile data for all Connecticut towns. Please note that a working knowledge of raw CSV files and/or Github may be required to use this resource effectively. In January 2016, the City of New Haven launched a new City Transformation Plan, which was created with extensive input from city residents, DataHaven, and other citywide partners. The site included an interactive data dashboard built in partnership with DataHaven, based in large part on the Greater New Haven Community Index and the DataHaven Community Wellbeing Survey, both of which are updated on a regular basis.
